The Super Mom Trifecta!
Meet the Super Moms. Megan: A branding professional and PTA VP of Communications, Megan balances creativity with flexibility, and prioritizing family above all else. In this stage of life, her days revolve around sports, sports…and more sports for her two kids! During the school year, on weekends, and throughout the summer. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Leah: Executive Director of three Charlotte organizations and President of the PTA. A natural born leader! She’s also the baseball dugout mom for her 2 boys and active in their Scouts activities. She credits her strong volunteer team (and Mom village) for keeping her family and school commitments in balance. Katie: A mom of three, a newborn night nurse, and PTA VP of Events, Katie’s schedule changes daily. Sometimes she spends entire days at the school, and others catching up on life. Between organizing a food pantry and chauffeuring kids to extracurriculars, she jokes that she’s basically an Uber driver on weeknights. Why Join the PTA? Megan: I noticed the need for better communication and connection between parents and the school. And I knew that was right up my alley. Leah: I was inspired by a friend to join. I believe schools can thrive when parents become true hands on partners. Katie: I wanted to know what was happening in my kids’ lives. It’s such a special time with so many exciting things and I wanted to be more connected with them. What’s your secret to survival? Megan: Voice activated reminders! “Hey Siri” is my lifesaver. Leah: I love Artful Agenda because it integrates into all my other calendars, plus I still love to use old school paper notebooks. Katie: I use my calendar app for everything; all of my reminders are input as “events.” I, too, love old school paper notebooks. Summer Planning Strategies Megan: I once relied on the “low hanging fruit” camps (both kids at the same camp, at the same time, and lasts all day). Now our summers revolve around sports and family vacations. Leah: Sleepaway camps are a big hit in our house. For the day camps, that’s always a week by week puzzle. We talk to the kids in the fall about what interests them and what’s available and go from there. Katie: We went from chaotic camp hopping to year round sports training, with travel woven in. Our kids never went to the same camp twice so it was always a fun, but chaotic mess. What are your kids’ favorite summer camps? Megan: Lurecrest, HQ4 Baseball, Pineville Ice House Leah: Falling Creek, 3D Printing @ Charlotte Latin, Farm Camp at Country Day Katie: Leg Up Equestrian, British American School, Tennis Camp at Park Crossing These moms prove that success isn’t about perfection—it’s about community, creativity, and showing up.
